Position Title: Applications Systems Analyst

Job Type: Full-Time

Classification: Exempt

Salary: $36,600 - $77,750


Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Analyze and determine source of system errors, malfunctions, job stoppages, and program information to ensure that operation standards are met and upheld.
  • Identify and resolve system issues in order to maintain services, enhance capabilities, and prevent system outages.
  • Report system problems to appropriate technical staff and confer with them to resolve production issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues for end-users, and assist with end-user question's or programming inquiries.
  • Assist in development and drafting of operating instruction documents and data analysis methodologies for use by other personnel.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in mainframe systems.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
  • Work with users to identify and clearly document departmental and credit union needs. Assist with the evaluation, implementation, testing, documentation and training of new software programs.
  • Perform Third-Level support for Help Desk Requests by resolving problems in a timely matter; thoroughly documenting all requests and solutions; and communicating with users to ensure adequate understanding of solutions. This may include providing First-Level support on an overload basis.
  • Act as a liaison between management, end users, and software/hardware vendors related to on-going system issues, programs and products to include the reporting and testing of software problems and fixes with the Symitar system.
  • Apply problem-solving and creative thinking skills to anticipate problems or identify new opportunities and make recommendations for change.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
  • Evaluate requests for new reports and data retrieval; develop and document programs; design foolproof quality assurance; present documentation and training to User; provide documentation and training where necessary to Help Desk.
  • Serve as the 'Knowledge Leader' for all development issues regarding your projects.
  • Communicate project statuses to manager and appropriate personnel in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Adhere to credit union policy in accordance with security and operational control requirements.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Accurately and promptly track Activity hours.
  • Assists personnel in other departments to increase understanding of system operations and effectively integrate new technology.
  • Keeps management well informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Ensures reports are completed accurately and timely.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Train and mentor Help Desk to diagnose and resolve basic operational issues.
  • Work with third-party consultants and vendors in support of projects and operations.


Qualifications

  • College degree or certification in a technical field is preferred or combination of related work experience.
  • Experience with the core software application Symitar.
  • Proven experience in the operation of mainframe hardware, software, and standards, as well as data analysis and processing methodologies, and database applications.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of data input and output procedures, job control processes, and system backup protocols.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
