Job description

Medline Industries has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager based out of Neptune, NJ! The Purchasing Manager will manage purchases up to approximately $100 million annually by negotiating supplier price reductions, analyzing price increases, resolving price discrepancies and overseeing vendors. Work closely with product management on new product launches.

  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, product promotions, cost reductions and long-term contracts with suppliers, domestic and overseas.
  • Identify product development for the division.
  • Respond to and resolve any accounting issues resulting from price discrepancies and over bills. Escalate issues that have been identified by the AP specialist and submitted to the established Medline representative.
  • Assist the reorder buying group with problem suppliers when all efforts to resolve communication efforts have failed.
  • Work closely with vendor, R&D, quality and inventory control.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues. Calculate debits for replacement products with Quality Department assistance.
  • Provide direction to tems in Supply Chain. Analyze, resolve or escalate inventory issues. Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks of Supply Chain teams meet standards.
  • Resolve daily Supply Chain issues. Direct team regarding issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate to senior management Supply Chain and service issues with short and long term recommendations on resolution.
  • Ensure inventory plans and execution of plans are consistent with Supply Chain goals.
  • Provide support to internal manufacturing operations.
  • Prepare and present forward-looking, future projections of inventory, colume, service, planning, capacity and space considerations. Assure that the system parameters are correct. Manage communication between teams.
  • Management responsibilities include:
    --Typically oversees professional employees/teams OR typically manages non-professional employees through Supervisors in manufacturing, distribution or office environments
    --Day-to-day operations of a group of employees.
    --May have limited budgetary responsibility and usually contributes to budgetary impact;
    --Interpret and execute policies for departments/projects and develops.
    --Recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies.

Education

  • Bachelor%26rsquo;s degree.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices and reconciling differences.
  • Experienced in documenting procedures and internal controls.
Additional
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF Statements, using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
Preferred Qualifications

Relevant Work Experience

  • SAP knowledge and experience.
  • At least 3 years of directly related industry experience.
