Homestead Rehab & Health Care Center - JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Human Resources Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action and employment equity programs.
Essential Functions
· Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations.
· Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
· Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
· Participates in orientation process.
· Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
· Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements.
· Maintains working relationship with union officials and adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.
· Represents management in investigating, answering, and settling grievances, by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings between union personnel, supervisor and the management team.
· Responds to all EEOC and NLRB charges.
· Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
· Writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts exit interviews.
· Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
· Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
· Administers health and wellness plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
· Enter required information into CMS Payroll Based Journal (PBJ).
· Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
· Prepares OSHA Logs 300 and 301, files annual OSHA reports
· Prepares annual Bureau of Labor Statistic reports;
· Completes various audits for Workman's Compensation; Teamsters, Payroll Based Journal and 401K plans.
· Reviews Workman's Compensation reports; files reports with carrier.
· Acts a liaison with Workman's Compensation carrier and employee
· Reviews I-9s for Completeness by employee, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
· Conducts audits of payroll and benefits.
· Assists with processing of terminations.
· Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
· Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
· Files documents into appropriate employee files.
· Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
· Prepares new-employee files.
· Processes mail.

Required Education and Experience
Two to four years of experience in human resource generalist role.
Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent education, training and experience preferred
