Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a to join our Quality Department as a Quality Assistant I in Ashland LLC, Nutritional business at our 95 Prince Street, Paterson, NJ site. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Quality function. This position will report to Quality Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform lab tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products
  • Verify compliance to all customer requirements and specifications
  • Maintain sample retention
  • Batch record review for completeness, maintain QC log receipts, retain quality control and quality assurance records in accordance with the documented records retention procedure
  • Manages departmental activities and capabilities to meet objectives within guidelines. Ex. water sample, ATP swabs, and environmental sample
  • Review COA's and QC paperwork for recordkeeping (sampling, sample-sending, documentation prep & closure)
  • Manage the on the floor periodic QC inspections good manufacturing practices (GMP) internal audits of the entire plant
  • Responsible for the appearance of the QC laboratory, maintaining general lab cleanliness
  • At the direction of the QC Supervisor perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business. Ex. label creation, batch records, and blend records

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • BS degree in Life Sciences/Chemistry and/or min. of 3 - 5 years' experience in science field
  • 1 to 2 years' experience of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal, including technical writing
  • Computer skills necessary to fulfill requirements of position able to operate independently and as a part of a team
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Self-motivated worker, able to act independently and set priorities

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit :

  • Knowledge and understanding of quality system standards FDA 21 CFR Parts 111 and 117 GMP and cGMP Regulations, ISO, FSSC
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred
