About this role
What team will you be on?
The recent increase in volume and variety of private investments has required new workflows and controls to ensure these investments receive the strict oversight expected by BlackRock, auditors and regulators. The Private Asset Oversight team works closely with all parties involved in all aspects of the lifecycle of private assets. This includes the initiation of the investments by the Portfolio Managers, approvals from various Legal and Compliance teams, processing and communication by Operations and representation within Aladdin. It continues with the transition from legal commitment to funded private asset and through the various stages to unrestricted public asset, disposition and settlement. The team develops processes and controls that allow for clear representation of size and scope and works with Portfolio Management to ensure their risk representations are accurate and timely. Private Asset Oversight strives for consistency, efficiency and operational risk mitigation.
Why is your role important?
BlackRock is seeking an Associate level individual to join Private Asset Oversight. The role will work closely with many different FI investment teams as well as various groups within BlackRock. Functions will include coordinating the deal approval process, initiating order capture and ensuring procedures and controls are followed. The successful candidate will review and help develop processes and reports as the group grows and takes on additional responsibilities.
What will you be doing?
Initiate the private asset review and approval process as investment opportunities arise
Coordinate and communicate the approvals across the various impacted parties and initiate and track the lifecycle of the investment
Create the orders and ensure appropriate processing once final approvals are received
Review the representation of the asset within the reporting systems
Track the lifecycle stages of private assets and coordinate the appropriate updates and communications with responsible parties
Provide periodic reports as well as ad hoc requests
Work with Investment Committees on their review responsibilities
Work with appropriate parties on system and process updates as needed
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in Finance or similar
2+ years of experience in the financial industry
Knowledge of Equity and Fixed Income investments
Excellent communication and organizational skills
The ability to multi-task between scheduled responsibilities and urgent short-term functions
Excel ATX macros experience
Python or other programming knowledge
AirTable experience a plus
