Job description

SoHo Dragon represents a Petroleum company in Rahway NJ area. Our client needs to hire a Senior IT Business Analyst.


Minimum Requirements


o Work independently with users to define concepts with support from a Senior Business Analyst when needed.

o Displays business understanding and the value of IT to success

o Understands Agile processes and has executed projects using SCRUM.

o Excellent requirement gathering and story writing skills.

  • Communication

o Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

o 5+ years of business requirement writing experience

o Assists in the facilitation of team and client meetings for smaller projects and in support of a Senior on larger enterprise wide projects.

o Tactful communicator.

  • Technical Understanding

o Possesses some knowledge of basic system design and architecture

o Understanding of the key components of System Development Life Cycle

o Understands how legacy and web-based systems interface with each other.

o Be able to read and understand code.

o Knowledge of best practices for testing.

o Able to understand and write simple SQL queries.

o Understanding of relational data base modeling

o Hands on experience with TFS or DevOps as well as maintaining product backlog and release management.

o Understands the basic business processes to identify and know how to resolve issues with help when needed.

o Identifies Critical issues.

o Displays high level of accountability.

o Pushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets.

Responsibilities

  • The Business Analyst supports all design and maintenance of the smaller business application enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Elicit requirements using various existing sources/techniques including interviews, document analysis, business process flows, use cases, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered to formulate business requirements document sufficient to communicate the changes to a developer.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and prepare functional requirements and deliver detailed requirements document.
  • Prepare test cases and test file/scenarios.
  • Conducts testing of new/added functionality.
  • Analytical skills required to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Ensures that the work of the I.T. Application Team is focused solely on the priorities of the Business Application Team.
  • The Business Analyst working with the business develops all scope of new work. That scope includes not only functionality to be included in the application but also resourcing and timing of implementation.
  • Acts as Project Owner with Oversite by Senior or Lead on smaller projects.
  • Participates with the Application Developers to ensure priorities are kept in order and effectively communicated throughout their team and the business community
  • Interacts professionally with co-workers.
  • Communicates ideas for improvement to the supervisor.
  • Escalates abnormal situations to supervisor, making recommendations for resolution.
  • Assists in recording information for performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates customer service skills, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to demonstrate team behavior and must be willing to promote a team-oriented environment.
  • Accepts additional assignments willingly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Off hours on-call schedule and deployments.
