Job description
Northstar Travel Group is searching for an exceptional Audience Data and BI Analyst individual to join our team and help us establish our next generation of audience analytics and reporting across all our market segments. We have numerous datasets that have millions of audience records attached to behavior that you will utilize, maintain, and transform. Your goal will be to ensure our primary audience system is running optimally, the data is cleaned regularly, tagged appropriately, and flowing accurately between multiple systems. In addition, you will ensure that all pipelines are maintained and optimized. You will vet 3rd party vendors to expand, improve and build upon the business. You will also work with our development team to build and improve the data infrastructure to ensure we have the best data possible to power the analytics necessary to grow our business and deliver reports to our clients.
Our audience department vision is to leverage digital technologies and innovative approaches to become the nucleus for information needs in our identified strategic markets through a relentless focus on producing high quality, actionable, audience insights from the data captured and maintained to delight our audiences and deliver high ROI for sellers who value reaching these audiences.
You will be based in our office in Secaucus, New Jersey 2 days per week and will have the flexibility to work remotely 3 days per week.
Responsibilities :
- Treat data as a product
- Locate, evaluate, and ingest new data sources
- Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines
- Advise on and implement data engineering best practices and process improvements
- Collaborate with database administrator, data analysist, and other stakeholders to assist with data-related issues and support their data infrastructure use cases
- Work with Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Architect to ensure safe data access and best practices are being followed
- Evaluate new vendor software as it relates to audience data for overall functionality, data flows, merging of data if applicable, data mapping, data retention rules, email opt in and out status, etc.
- Implement new vendor technology as it relates to the integration with the audience data systems. Gather the requirements, set up the front-end system, liaison with the development team, test any API's or data pipes, roll out the new technology, assist with training the audience team or business, and provide any training documentation. Support the new technology as it relates to the data pipes.
- Assist with data cleansing, data append projects, and data merging project
- Manage data uploads into main audience application, data integrations manual or automated, data mapping, define new data fields and data demographics, gap analysis between data fields
- Research, triage, and set a course of action for audience data issues such as duplicate records, audience email issues, data issues
- Establish and develop new automation from 3rd party vendors (e.g., Zoom, webinar vendors) to ingest audience data into the main audience application faster
- Manage the Jira ticketing process for site updates capturing audience data, from writing the tickets to testing the sites and data integration with other platforms (ie Omeda).
- Manage behavior tracking scripts (Olytics) which are basic URL capturing tags that use categories and tags, .com points, referring domains, and device types
- Assist with company acquisitions which require data to be merged into the database
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand Audience reporting challenges and develop data-driven solutions
- Champion the business intelligence data visualization tool for the business
- Write SQL to pipeline and analyze data
- Analyze data and build data visualizations
- Support data-oriented analyses to be presented to stakeholders
- Develop spreadsheets to expand access to data and analytics
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Collaborative mindset, strong curiosity
- Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Strong Excel fundamentals
- Experience building dashboards - knowing the trade-offs and impacts of using one metric versus another
- Experience with business intelligence reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau Software, Domo, Sisense, or Power BI
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment that is constantly changing
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Strong passion for testing, data and metrics and belief in discovering insights in data
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills - use and analyze data to inform media strategies and optimizations
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; organized with ability to multi-task, prioritize, work quickly and to tight deadlines
- Self-starter
Related work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (computer science, data analytics, similar)
- 2+ years of experience as a BI Analysist, or Data Analysist, or similar position
