MAJOR FUNCTION: Performs testing and quality control procedures either in a specialized department(s) or as a generalist. Operates instrumentation, prepares reagents and reports results according to established policies and procedures. Performs all testing under the supervision of a Laboratory Department Supervisor, Laboratory Manager or Lead Technologist. Communicates with nursing/physicians regarding patient results and assist in various projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: Associate of Science in Laboratory Science preferred. High school diploma or equivalent with 50 week military training as Medical Lab Specialist OR Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory or Clinical Laboratory training program.

B. Experience: 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

C. Certification/Licensure: ASCP or equivalent, certified or eligible, required. Certification must be achieved within 9 months after hire date
