Overview:

Supports process improvement efforts designed to improve efficiency, decrease costs and improve quality of work.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interview process subject matter experts (SMEs) and process owners to understand how their processes work.
  • Listen to needs of the business partner and consider those needs by asking probing questions until the real need is surfaced and understood.
  • Document information elicited using analytical tools and techniques such as spreadsheets, pareto charts and process maps.
  • Read and interpret process data and/or design measurement systems where they do not exist.
  • Identify and document opportunities for process automation (e.g. robotics); develop business case.
  • Combine an understanding of project objectives with thorough process and data analysis to identify meaningful and actionable solutions.
  • Develop business case and project benefits for discussion with the business.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.


Scope of Responsibilities:

This position supports projects under higher level Process Improvement personnel.



Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years' higher education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience

Strong analytical skills to properly deconstruct the problem

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Effective listening skills

Experience creating clear and concise project documentation



Education and Experience Preferred:

Six Sigma or Lean Certification

Financial services experience
