Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group): Provide routine laboratory tasks in a clean room environment to assist a production facility with sample processing and provide data analysis. Coordinate the delivery of customer samples and work with the team to organize sample priorities. This individual will need to have strong communication skills and will need to be in constant contact with project teams to meet deadlines. This role will focus on the delivery of quality results to ensure customer satisfaction. The position will include sample preparation using wet chemistry techniques, data analysis, and data interpretation. This individual will need strong organizational skills, a willingness to take on any tasks assigned to them and will need to be extremely detail oriented.
Day to Day Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to) perform the following functions to the satisfaction of the employee's supervisor. ALL necessary training will be provided:
• Acid-cleaning of PFA parts
• Maintaining inventory of all supplies and special equipment
• Prepare materials and assemble, disassemble, clean, and store equipment needed for purification
• Record keeping and communication
• Sample digestions with mineral acids (HNO3, HCl, HF, H2SO4).
• Daily operation and trouble-shooting of ICP-MS instrumentation
• Data processing and interpretation
• Communicating with shipping and receiving department in order to preserve a steady shipment of material going out to support production
• Performing clerical tasks as needed
• Following clean room protocols
• Storing and handling laboratory equipment
• Ordering supplies and maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies/equipment
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Travel requirements (please note if international): NA
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hours per week
Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration):
• Associate or bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or other science area which involves work in a laboratory. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required Skills (These are skills that candidates must possess):
• Knowledge of working with chemicals and basic analytical instrumentation: balances, pipettes, etc.
• Committed and dependable to follow through on assigned tasks
• Consistently performs auxiliary tasks to ensure there are no interruptions in group workflow
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Follow all safety requirements / regulations
Desired Skills (these are the skills that would be nice for candidates to possess):
• Knowledge of clean room protocols
• Knowledge of ICP-MS
• Experience with storing and handling laboratory equipment
• Knowledge of ordering supplies and maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies and equipment
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
