Job description
Mercer is seeking an in-house counsel to support the legal needs of the Company. Mercer delivers advice and technology driven solutions that help organizations meet the health, wealth and career needs of a changing work force. The position is in in the Marsh McLennan Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs Department and will report to a Senior Assistant General Counsel in New York at the Company's headquarters in New York, but the Company will consider candidates in other locations in the United States where the Company has an office.
The candidate's primary responsibilities will include:
* Providing advisory services and serving as trusted advisor to various levels of Mercer's management on all aspects of Mercer's health, wealth (other than investment consulting/investment management) and career businesses in the US;
* Handling the negotiation and review of a broad range of contracts for Mercer, including domestic and global master services agreement, with a primary focus on technology contracts, such as SaaS agreements, software licensing agreements, subscription agreements, hosting agreements and consulting agreements;
* Assisting the Mercer business in structuring strategic alliances and partnerships with third parties primarily in the technology space and drafting and negotiating the related agreements;
* Providing advice and counsel to Mercer's innovation initiatives as the business seeks to develop new products and solutions; and
* Resolving complex legal and regulatory matters.
The candidate must possess excellent judgement, excellent communication and negotiating skills, financial acumen, project management skills, and the willingness and ability to work as a part of a team.
The position is open to applicants with 4-8 years of working experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department, including working with licensing, software and other technology-focused contracts and providing client advice and transactional support. The candidate must be admitted to the bar in New York or in the location where position will be based.
