Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Staff Scientist with strong expertise in integrative metabolism, energy partitioning between peripheral tissues using advanced transgenic and molecular methodologies. This individual will focus on integrative biology between muscle, adipose and hepatic tissues and contribute toward Regeneron's mission of discovering and developing innovative therapies to treat diseases. The Obesity, Muscle and Metabolism group at Regeneron is committed to discovering novel targets and innovative medicines to treat obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, NASH and muscle diseases. The candidate will be responsible for guiding and executing rigorous in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies for target discovery, validation, and novel therapeutic development.

As a Staff Scientist in Obesity, Muscle, and Metabolism, a typical day may include the following:

- Develop and implement new genetic and molecular technologies and technology platforms. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Independently design studies and analyze the resulting data from a range of disease specific tissues for target discovery.

- Contribute to novel drug (format) development by designing, phenotyping, validating and troubleshooting new in vitro and in vivo (mouse) models.

- Provide scientific and technical supervision to junior staff, including initial training, ongoing instruction, planning detailed procedures for defined projects with timelines, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.

- Survey the literature and conferences for discoveries and findings from the metabolic diseases and broader molecular and cellular biology communities.

- Maintain scientific curiosity and familiarity with current advances in emerging technologies and literatures, and apply such knowledge toward development of new or improved research directions.

- Record keeping, write research reports and create presentations.

- Communicate and report study findings, analyses and future directions with senior leadership, administration, and collaborators.

- Coordinate with Regeneron and external collaborator scientists to integrate findings and analyses into new and existing programs.

- Participate in writing manuscripts and coordinating their publication.

- The individual will have the opportunity to pursue interesting leads identified using these new methods.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD or MD and possess a minimum with 6+ years relevant experience. A strong record of innovation and research accomplishments in metabolism, muscle biology, immunometabolism or related field is required. Expertise in molecular expression screening technologies, analysis of genetic variants, genetically modified mice and disease modeling is preferred.
