Position Description:
Position Summary:

The Electrical Lab Technician will be a key member of the Product Engineering Team reporting to the Manager of New Product Introduction. The Electrical Lab Technician is responsible for performing and plotting accurate performance data of Rotron air moving and associated products. The technician will work closely with Development teams on new products and will also perform customer required testing on production units.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• There is no supervisory responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Do single point performance charts per customers specs. Run full performance curves from shut off to free delivery with temp rise. Create associated performance curves.
• Understand and apply basic fan laws for airflow testing.
• Do impedance testing on customers systems and generate impedance curves.
• Understand altitude testing and how fans react to altitude. Create altitude curves.
• Understand Mil Spec M23071 and M28873 and do group B testing
• Keep accurate records of all air flow / altitude testing
• Understand and operate QLS and burn in chambers. Test and create new lab reference units.
• Gather power and current readings while operating under unique temperature and pressure environments.
• Read customer specifications and perform tests required to prove product qualification
• Manufacture thermocouples and assemble into critical locations both within fans and external.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstration of electrical and mechanical acumen as well as ability to use associated equipment.

• Rudimentary knowledge of gas and fan laws. e.g. The effect of temperature and humidity on test parameters.
• Be able to hook up AC & DC fans, sensors, signal wires and thermocouples.
• Knowledge of how to find, read and understand customer specs.
• Acute attention to details
• Be able to trouble shoot and repair aero chambers and power benches.
• Ability to read, create charts, graphs and similar tools presenting data
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite of computer tools
• Demonstration of electrical and mechanical assembly and testing skills as well as ability to use associated equipment.
• Sense of urgency

Education and Experience:

• A Two-year Electronics degree or equivalent, or a high school diploma with 5-7 years of work experience in similar roles
• Due to ITAR restrictions, US citizenship or US Lawful Permanent Resident status is required.
• Demonstration of electrical and mechanical assembly and testing skills as well as ability to use associated equipment.
