Baebies, Inc. is an early stage in-vitro diagnostic company addressing unmet needs in infant healthcare. Baebies has developed two in-vitro diagnostic test platforms - Seeker and Finder - based on the digital microfluidics technology. The SEEKER is a high throughput test platform for newborn screening and the FINDER is a sample-to-answer test platform for near-patient use.


Position Summary

  • The Molecular Technologist will provide routine molecular-based testing in a clinical laboratory in addition to leading new assay development and validation and process improvements.
  • Duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and perform complex molecular-based procedures, including RT-PCR and next generation sequencing, from nucleic acid extraction through sequencer loading.
  • Data entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and equipment calibrations
  • Reagent preparation and quality control
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, company policies, and other regulations, including identification and investigation of problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting and correct according to established procedures.
  • Support R&D, product development and manufacturing operations activities, including performing molecular/biochemical testing using either Baebies' platforms or other laboratory equipment.


. Requirements:


  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in science related field, or equivalent. Medical Technology background preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience running molecular-based assays, including real-time PCR and NGS, preferably on an Illumina platform
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Comfort making decisions in a changing environment


Preferred Requirements:

  • ASCP and/or AMT certifications are a plus
  • Experience with molecular assay development and validation
  • Experience with bioinformatic analysis of genomic data
