Summary:

This position handles accounting assignments with a high level of complexity and requires a solid understanding of financial accounting in an operational environment. Accountant helps to lead the general ledger, revenue process and decision support team through the monthly financial reporting at the subsidiary and corporate level, as well as the annual budget process and monthly financial performance reporting for assigned cost centers. In addition to daily and monthly tasks, there will be high profile special projects with time sensitive deadlines and a level of interaction with Children's executives. Demonstrates critical thinking skills by challenging status quo, identifying opportunities, and proposing creative solutions as issues arise. This candidate possesses qualities, abilities and leadership traits moving toward a career path in management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, communicate and execute general ledger accounting processes. Responsibilities will include the maintenance and ongoing support of subsidiary work.
  2. Work collaboratively with staff from different departments, including revenue cycle, IT, and decision support.
  3. Collaborate with executive team as needed.
  4. Track and manage monthly reconciliation of revenue and charges.
  5. Help facilitate month and year end close, including account reconciliations, monthly and period end closing, ad-hoc reporting and analysis, and year-end audit schedules.
  6. Plan, coordinate, and execute an annual budget development and lead forecasting process. Actively track key metrics for special projects.
  7. Accounting research as needed for new or more complex accounting transactions.
  8. Interacts with external auditors on a routine basis.
  9. Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

  1. Ability to function proactively and independently at a high level in a technical and demanding environment.
  2. Must possess excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, and be able to communicate proactively and effectively with all levels of management.
  3. Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office [Advanced Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Ability to proficiently use an ERP computerized system.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Certification: CPA is preferred.
  3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  4. 7 years accounting including financial reporting experience (either internal or public account) is required.
