Property Manager - Affordable Housing
SMSI has an exciting opportunity for a Property Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for the management of two of our project-based, federally-subsidized apartment complex in Akron, OH. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working within the subsidized housing market and understands the importance of putting our residents first.

Responsibilities:

• Rigorously maintain resident files and information in a confidential fashion
• Maintain clear lines of communication with residents, staff and co-workers
• Taking applications for housing
• Calculating and collecting rental payments
• Overseeing housekeeping inspections
• Serve legal notices upon residents and appear in court on behalf of the property
• Schedule and supervise maintenance staff
• Organize and coordinate resident activities
• Perform other duties as the function may require.

Qualifications & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of Section 8 programming is a definite plus.
• Certified Occupancy Specialist status is a critical component of the position. If the successful candidate does not have COS certification, they will have one-year from date of hire to obtain it.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Fair Housing and civil rights laws pertaining to housing.
• Ability to use computers and software programs (such as Word and Excel) with skill is required.
• Knowledge of Yardi (Voyager) software will be a distinct plus.
• Candidates should have a clear criminal background history and be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening as a condition of employment.
• They must also possess a valid and clear Driver's License and have a reliable form of daily transportation.
