Purpose
This position serves as Human Resources (HR) Manager for a Save A Lot distribution center. The HR Manager will partner with the Director of Distribution and people leaders on activities to include Team Member relations, workplace investigations, labor relations/grievances, performance management, and HR trainings and day to day interpretation of the Collective bargaining Agreement. The HR Manager will need to be well-rounded and knowledgeable HR generalist, familiar with discipline within HR to formulate workforce strategies that meet organizational goals and the ability to develop strategic solutions on employment-related issues. The HR Manager also provides day-to-day Team Member assistance and collaborates with the HR Support Center to deliver HR programs on organizational design, management development, and Team Member performance management trainings that are designed to meet organizational and performance goals. This position also partners with the Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards teams on recruitment, career development and compensation and benefits programs.
Responsibilities
* Serve as a link between the DC Director, the management team, and Team Members, through consultation with HR leaders or Subject Matter Experts (SME) by handling questions, interpreting, and administering the collective bargaining agreement and helping resolve work-related problems
* Advise managers on organizational policy matters, including those that are involved at both the Federal and State level
* Act as the facility point person in the event of any HR audits as they arise
* Perform staffing duties to including dealing with, refereeing disputes, administering disciplinary procedures, and Team Member terminations
* Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations, and partner with the Human Resources Director and other colleagues within the Save A Lot community to arrive at a satisfactory solution
* Partner along with the Human Resources Director and DC Director as an integral member to negotiate bargaining agreements and help interpret labor contracts
* Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview, and select applicants along with the Distribution Management team
* Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labor relations, and Team Member relations
* Provide current and prospective Team Members with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and Team Member benefits
* Partners with the Health and Safety COE to investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers
* Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices, through the use of Team Member Development plans
* Plan, organize, direct, control, or coordinate the training of Team Members or labor relations activities of an organization.
* Plan and conduct new Team Member orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
* Analyze training needs to design Team Member development and health and safety programs.
* Study legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to keep abreast of industry trends.
* Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
* Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for Team Member resignations
Minimum Requirements
About You
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
* 4+ years' experience in HR related disciplines
* Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. SHRM certification is an added benefit
* Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
* Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
* Insight - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
* Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and
