As an Underwriting Manager - BBLC within PNC's Business Banking Lending organization, you will be based in Indianapolis, IN, Philadelphia, PA or Brecksville, OH.

In this position you will be a part of the SBA New Money Underwriting team. In this role you will be managing a group of 8-10 underwriters who will be working loans that range from $25k to $10m. You will be responsible for daily communication with the team, as well as one on one individual communication with underwriters on specific loan transactions. In addition, you will have requisite credit allowance to sign off on loans as you will be the elevated credit signer for the underwriter. You will also be responsible for working with our credit risk partners on transactions that may be outside of their signing authority.

Due to the nature of this position, we are looking for candidates who have management experience, as well as exposure to SBA lending (underwriting or sales).

Job Description

  • Supervises a team of underwriters and/or underwriting analysts. Provides mentoring, training, advising and assistance to their team during the underwriting process.
  • Supervises and serves as a point of escalation to staff in performing underwriting responsibilities. Oversees work product quality of team, including satisfying portfolio metrics as applicable. Manages workflow of the team.
  • Builds ongoing relationships with internal/external customers and other parties.
  • Ensures compliance with all external regulatory requirements and internal policies/procedures. Provides recommendations for process improvement and participates in special initiatives.
  • Coaches and develops underwriters. Leads team's performance, training, hiring and development.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. At least 3 years of prior management experience is typically required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
