Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group Kelly OCG , a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Chemist for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in Cincinnati, Ohio area. This role is a full-time, fully benefitted position. As a Kelly OCG employee you will be eligible for Medical, Dental, 401K and a variety of other benefits to choose from. The scope of the Chemist will encompass the specified responsibilities defined within the Life Cycle Materials/Biocompatibility


**Responsibilities**


+ Material Documentation Support the material characterization by: Reviewing internal / external chemical characterization lab reports


+ Providing data quality assessments for laboratory evaluations and reports


+ Developing internal lab testing to support toxicological or general material evaluations


+ Creating / maintaining the chemical library within the materials database e.g. Supporting various chemistry lab tests and required training of R&D Materials and R&D team members


+ Developing white papers to support biocompatibility, R&D Materials, and chemical characterization efforts for MDR Material Characterization Develop chemical characterization criteria and support Biocompatibility efforts in material research, compliance, and testing Support Toxicologists in chemical research, including analysis, reports, memos, and discussion with external laboratories and partners.


+ Develop Materials Characterization laboratory processes through wet chemistry, Raman, FTIR, XRF and external programs to expedite analyses and determinations Perform validation of methods of the above listed equipment; train personnel in this equipment as the SME; maintain training records and logbooks


+ Perform literature searches on material compositions and chemical analyses, chronicle


+ Be available for expert review of chemistry data


+ Support assessment needs of the R&D Materials team by: Executing chemistry evaluations of product inquiries


+ Reviewing and investigating new / modified analytical techniques and their applicability to the business


+ Providing analytical guidance and strategy in support testing strategies


+ Developing and implementing strategies regarding the expansion of organic materials testing, e.g. FTIR microscopy, ELISA testing, Raman spectroscopy, etc. Providing cross-functional support for chemistry-based regulations, e.g. MDR Supporting critical R D Materials team functions, e.g. material selection, component stability assessments


+ Being responsible for R&D Materials-centric equipment applications, training, and maintenance, e.g. FTIR, XRF, Raman, etc. Supporting other businesses as needed and promoting the multidiscipline R&D Materials initiatives


+ Conducting a periodic review of upcoming chemicals of concern and their proliferation across the R-spec portfolio


+ Creating strategies to develop new materials that proactively respond to pending chemical regulations and customer concerns.


+ Partnering with Materials Engineers, as needed


**Requirements** : Minimum a BS in chemistry or related field. 2-3 years experience with polymers and/or in an analytical laboratory environment.


Preference will be given to those individuals with analytical laboratory experience. The ideal candidate would have several years of practical mass spectroscopy experience, specifically in interpretation, but we will train up the right candidate that meets the team's needs and vision.
