Job description
The Loss Prevention Specialist (LPS) is a critical hourly position in the Amazon Global Specialty Fulfillment (GSF) network. The Loss Prevention Specialist leads the effort to efficiently and effectively investigate and address various patterns of loss, manages contracted security services and physical-security systems, and provides overall protection efforts (lives, buildings, equipment, inventory, data, and intellectual property) within a specific geographic region. The LPS reports directly to the Loss Prevention Manager or Regional Loss Prevention Manager responsible for their region, and aids them in supporting multiple leadership teams and business units across the network.
Key responsibilities include:
* Enhance, track, and report on metrics which are key performance indicators, help drive shrink reduction strategies and process improvements to ultimately reduce financial loss
* Drive investigations of internal and external theft, fraud, and other loss, and conduct interviews when appropriate
* Oversee performance and effective deployment/function of all security services team members
* Partner with Human Resources and Safety teams to respond effectively to internal and external threats, workplace violence, and crisis situations in which emergency response is required
* Support launch teams to ensure new buildings are compliant with Amazon physical security and inventory control standards
* Coordinate with local vendors and specialized internal teams to ensure the performance, upkeep, and maintenance of all physical-security hardware
* Serve as department's liaison and security subject-matter expert on site leadership teams; collaborate with individual site leadership to drive program compliance
* Develop strategic relationships with local law enforcement, and enlist their support to resolve external intrusion threats
* Monitor logistics metrics via Excel, Tableau, and other database platforms; identify problematic discrepancies and investigate accordingly
Basic Qualifications
* Three-plus years' experience in security services, law enforcement, loss prevention, asset protection, internal auditing, risk management, inventory control, quality assurance, or other related fields OR a Bachelor's degree
* Basic operational familiarity with MS Office Professional Suite, including intermediate knowledge of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
* Must be flexible to work weekends and/or overnight shifts as necessary
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Able to work in an industrial environment that requires walking up to five miles a day and ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with off-site supervision
* Demonstrated ability to engage with others at all levels
* Must have strong oral and written communication skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment
* 1+ year of leadership or management experience
* Professional credentials in Loss Prevention, such as, Wicklander and Zulawski certification
* Experience with warehouse or distribution center services
* Experience conducting internal or external interviews
* Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma concepts desired and certification
* Strong familiarity with data bases (querying and analyzing) such as SQL, MYSQL, Access, Exception-Based Reporting, etc.
* Awareness and implementation of best practices related to the utilization of physical security systems, investigation techniques, effective oversight of contract security officers, and distribution center loss mitigation techniques
