Overview
The Recruiting Team Manager reports to KeyBank's Head of Enterprise Talent Acquisition as a member of the Talent Acquisition Leadership Team and is responsible for leading and managing a best-in-class Recruiting function that is client-centric, candidate and business focused, scalable and delivers diverse, superior talent. This person is accountable for defining and executing a strategic recruiting vision for two of Key's critical lines of business, Digital and Enterprise Payments, as well as all of the bank's functional departments including Key Technology & Operations, Risk, and Finance. This role has direct management accountability for a total team of 9-10 recruiters including the Technology Recruiting Team Leader. The overall team is accountable for more than 30% of hiring at KeyBank, and this leader will support and interact with 8 of Key's 13 Executive Leadership Team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve a best-in-class recruiting function that is aligned to the talent needs and priorities of KeyBank.
- Appropriately staff and monitor the progress of the Recruiting team, leading with data and analysis, but balanced by qualitative feedback
- Manage, coach and develop the team, ensuring a best practice approach to recruiting.
- Proactively manage workloads across the team.
- Serve as a strategic consultant to executive leaders and HR partners at Key to develop and execute targeted recruiting strategies to support defined talent needs and to proactively recruit top talent to the company.
- Prioritize work and set appropriate expectations with hiring managers and partners; anticipate roadblocks and issues, course correct, reset expectations, and redirect resources as necessary.
- Research industry competitive intelligence and analyze external market trends to inform talent and organizational decisions as well as assist with workforce planning and provide for opportunistic hiring of talent; Manage market mapping projects in support of defined initiatives.
- Manage key relationships across all lines of business as necessary to understand and drive the function with an enterprise wide lens.
- Partnering with Compensation Managers and HR Partners, understand and effectively utilize comprehensive knowledge of company benefits, compensation philosophy and structure, internal equity data, candidate compensation expectations and budget to manage complex hiring negotiations including compensation recommendations, relocation and possible counter -offers.
- Partner with Legal to understand candidates' existing restrictive covenant agreements; modify recruiting activity appropriately; facilitate the crafting and completion of any relative, necessary documentation.
- In partnership with Talent Management, assist in the facilitation and execution of internal talent slating and movement.
- Partner with KeyBank's Talent Acquisition Team Manager peers and recruiting peers to share talent, market intelligence and best practice recruiting methodology.
- Personally execute a small number of senior-level searches, as capacity warrants.
- Develop and maintain understanding of recruiting best practices, as well as an understanding of client businesses and business plans.
- Participate in appropriate department, client and/or Corporate HR meetings, initiatives and projects.
- Comply with all Talent Acquisition and broader KeyBank policies, procedures and risk requirements.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- Demonstrable interest in the company as well as the role itself
- A minimum of 10 years of experience recruiting executives and professionals in a corporate recruiting environment; minimum of 3 years of experience directly managing a recruiting team
- Exceptional leadership and influencing skills
- Strong executive maturity, poise, presence, intellect and organizational and communication skills necessary to successfully interact with a variety of individuals including Key's senior-most leaders and external candidates of a high professional caliber
- Strong project management, analytical and critical thinking skills; proven ability to craft and present complex data, stories and business cases to a variety of audiences, including very senior leaders
- Proven track record of developing, assessing, attracting and hiring (including complex offer negotiation) successful talent
- Exceptional client management and candidate management skills
- A proven advisor to hiring managers relative to recruiting strategy and execution, candidate assessment and hiring, and market intelligence
- Ability to overcome obstacles, proactively manage expectations and relationships, provide innovative ideas and solutions, and shares best practices
- Proven track record of working in a fast-paced, complex and deadline-oriented environment
- A proven self-starter with the ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, recruiters and candidates
