The Income Tax Manager will be responsible for all areas of U.S. corporate income tax compliance for a multistate, multinational enterprise, and play a key role in the tax provision process. The position will report to the VP of tax in the US, partner with other tax leadership, and manage a remote team of income tax analysts. The role will have exposure to many areas of the US and international income tax environment and will provide ongoing opportunities for learning and growth.

What you'll do at Insight

  • Supervise and optimize all aspects of the preparation of the US federal consolidated return including international components (e.g., Forms 1118, 5471, 8858, 8865, 8992, 8993, and 8975) using Excel-based workpapers and Corptax compliance software
  • Supervise and optimize all areas of state and local corporate income tax compliance, including apportionment calculations, state depreciation and other modifications
  • Liaise with foreign controllers and foreign tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of foreign tax returns and income tax payments
  • Supervise the calculation, review and filing of US quarterly tax estimates and extension payments
  • Manage all aspects of federal and state tax depreciation, including tracking the Company's fixed assets for tax purposes using Sage FAS software and computing the fixed asset deferred tax balance
  • Handle daily corporate tax functions such as addressing notices, handling tax payments and mailings, and communicating with other business associates
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual domestic tax provision calculations, including computation of book-tax differences and deferred tax balances, entry of data into OneSource ("Tax Stream") tax provision software, producing and reconciling of tax provision reports and RTP calculations
  • Manage the quarterly and annual foreign tax provision process, including collaborating with foreign controllers to obtain inputs, generating the provision in OneSource, and reviewing the RTP calculations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley Act ("SOX") requirements.
  • Partner in US income tax audits by gathering supporting documentation in response to information requests from taxing authorities and liaising with auditors
  • Support and monitor foreign income tax audits
  • Monitor federal and state tax legislation, regulations, and judicial activities, and engage in proactive domestic, US international, and foreign strategic tax planning
  • Conduct tax research using BNA and/or Intelliconnect and produce high quality technical memorandums for both tax return and tax provision purposes
  • Support the annual R&D credit study led by external tax advisors
  • Proactively identify ways to improve processes and automate them when possible, including collaborating with other departments to implement and achieve the improvements
  • Maintain a high quality, audit-ready library of electronic tax workpapers
  • Introduce and maintain highly repeatable and reliable processes
  • Document business processes and ensure such documentation is current and meets respective audit requirements
  • Build, maintain, develop, and motivate a team of income tax analysts
  • Support other special projects and tasks as they arise


What you'll need to join Insight
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy/Finance from four-year college or university
  • Five years related experience and/or training in preparing consolidated corporate federal and state income tax returns and supporting calculations, preparing income tax provisions under ASC 740, performing tax research, and producing technical memorandums
  • Two years' experience managing a team of tax preparers / analysts
  • Public accounting experience or commensurate industry experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Proficiency in consolidated corporate income tax law, nexus and interstate commerce rules, and US GAAP standards for accounting for income taxes (ASC 740)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Corptax, OneSource tax provision software ("TaxStream"), Sage FAS, BNA, Intelliconnect
  • Must be self-motivated, able to effectively manage the productivity and workflow allocation of a team and adhere to a task-based calendar and conduct all work and interaction with all levels of employees in a professional manner
