Required Skills and Experience:

• One to two years of auto and homeowners personal lines underwriting experience
• Insurance carrier experience
• Knowledge of state regulatory laws
• Customer service mindset
• Attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of state regulatory statutes and laws
• Ability to interact effectively with customers, underwriters, and colleagues
• Very results-oriented individual with excellent decision-making ability.
• Must be extremely organized and capable of managing their work to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Strong PC skills, including knowledge of business software such as MS Word and Excel.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• CPCU is very desirable but not required

Job Description:

We are hiring an Assistant Personal Lines Underwriter to work for us as a direct, W2 salaried or hourly employee, and the selected candidate will work on an engagement for our client in which you will work with inspections and other insurance operations. You will:

• Work in a behind-the-scenes desk underwriting role. This is not an agent-facing underwriting role.
• Work with a team of underwriters who will handle the agent-facing work.
• Evaluate and underwriter preferred lines of new business, amendments, and renewal business risks referred from the client's Underwriting Decision System.
• Review all information to evaluate and assess the overall risk with focus on proper placement and obtaining adequate premium for the exposure.
• Review inspections in accordance with operations workflow practices and standards.
• Complete claims referrals, status summaries, and risk alert referrals.
• Adhere to operations production and service standards and differentiators.
• Respond to customer inquiries, including live chats, complaint letters, and policy information requests.
• Identify product risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
• Advise business unit on necessary risk reduction actions and solutions.
