Job description
The Wasserstrom Company is the leading Food Service Distributor in the nation. Established in 1902, we are a family owned company with our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. At this time, we have an opening for a full-time Recruiter/HR Administrator in our Corporate headquarters. This position will focus on our distribution and customer service recruiting and support, while assisting with other HR Generalist tasks. We are looking for a driven self starter looking for a challenging fast paced opportunity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create recruiting strategies that allow for successful sourcing.
- Use creative sourcing and marketing opportunities to identify new and effective pipelines for candidates.
- Search for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria, networking, Internet recruiting resources, local education/training schools, job fairs and employee referrals.
- Understand the market and translate supply and demand as it relates to recruitment sourcing.
- Ensure recruiting sources and headcount are managed to budget.
- Screen and refer applicants to distribution hiring managers.
- Interview applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, and job skills.
- Advise managers on staffing policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations.
- Administration of ID Badge process for building access and timekeeping.
- Facilitate new hire and benefits orientations.
- Run background checks.
- Create and send offer letters.
- Calculate turnover metrics for Distribution network.
- Assist with all aspects of general HR as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Thorough knowledge of recruitment and selection techniques.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills: must display patience, humor and helpfulness- front line contact for employee issues.
- Self starter, dedicated, self-motivated, and have ability to work with little supervision.
- Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential.
- Able to adapt to situational demands; flexibility.
- Strong organizational skills, must be able to prioritize, complete multiple tasks.
- Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions.
- Analytical thinker and problem solver.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong computer skills, experienced with MS Office, various social media platforms, HR software a plus.
Education and/or Experience
- One or more years experience in Human Resources
- Broad understanding of all Distribution Center and Customer Service activities (distribution environment experience a plus)
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred, or equivalent work experience
