Job description

The Wasserstrom Company is the leading Food Service Distributor in the nation. Established in 1902, we are a family owned company with our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. At this time, we have an opening for a full-time Recruiter/HR Administrator in our Corporate headquarters. This position will focus on our distribution and customer service recruiting and support, while assisting with other HR Generalist tasks. We are looking for a driven self starter looking for a challenging fast paced opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create recruiting strategies that allow for successful sourcing.

  • Use creative sourcing and marketing opportunities to identify new and effective pipelines for candidates.

  • Search for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria, networking, Internet recruiting resources, local education/training schools, job fairs and employee referrals.

  • Understand the market and translate supply and demand as it relates to recruitment sourcing.

  • Ensure recruiting sources and headcount are managed to budget.

  • Screen and refer applicants to distribution hiring managers.

  • Interview applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, and job skills.

  • Advise managers on staffing policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with all government regulations.

  • Administration of ID Badge process for building access and timekeeping.

  • Facilitate new hire and benefits orientations.

  • Run background checks.

  • Create and send offer letters.

  • Calculate turnover metrics for Distribution network.

  • Assist with all aspects of general HR as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of recruitment and selection techniques.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: must display patience, humor and helpfulness- front line contact for employee issues.

  • Self starter, dedicated, self-motivated, and have ability to work with little supervision.

  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential.

  • Able to adapt to situational demands; flexibility.

  • Strong organizational skills, must be able to prioritize, complete multiple tasks.

  • Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions.

  • Analytical thinker and problem solver.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Strong computer skills, experienced with MS Office, various social media platforms, HR software a plus.


Education and/or Experience

  • One or more years experience in Human Resources

  • Broad understanding of all Distribution Center and Customer Service activities (distribution environment experience a plus)

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred, or equivalent work experience
