Job Description
Personally, maintain proficiency in multiple laboratory functional areas and reliably carry out and/or direct
others to carry out the responsibilities of those areas in a timely fashion. Maintain knowledge and proper
application and customer acceptance criteria, testing and inspection methods, the reporting and
analysis of results, and laboratory best practices and procedures.
• Receive, review, prioritize and assign responsibility for fulfilling requests for laboratory services from internal
and external customers for the assigned laboratory functional area's and delivery accurate and timely results.
Respond appropriately to test and inspection failures. Maintain records of test and inspection activities.
Disposition tested materials appropriately.
• Maintain a competent and proficient Laboratory staff within the assigned functional area(s) through training,
cross-training opportunities with other functional areas and periodic evaluation of job performance with
feedback and planning to correct deficiencies.
• Optimize equipment availability through effective execution of preventive maintenance, verification and/or
calibration, troubleshooting, timely repairs, and hardware and software upgrades. Maintain a functional
knowledge of test control software and databases for the posting of test results and calibration records.
Interact with the maintenance organization and outside contractors for needed services
• Maintain and continually improve the quality and environmental management systems within the assigned
Laboratory functional area, consistent with plant policies and the requirements of applicable standards.
Observe and faithfully execute the requirements of procedures, work instructions, compound release / testing
control cards, quality standards and other pertinent documentation.
Job Requirements
Demonstrated ability to both learn and teach laboratory test and inspection
methods.
• Demonstrated proficiency in multiple laboratory testing and/or inspection
methods
• Communication skills (written, verbal, active listening, interpersonal)
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an industrial testing laboratory or
associated technical or quality field
• Functional competency in the following computer applications: MS Excel, MS
Word, Lotus Notes, SQCpack, equipment control software, SAP purchasing,
ARIBA Buyer.
• Leadership potential (communicate and execute policy, goals and objectives,
provide behavior example)
• Demonstrated ability to both learn and teach laboratory test and inspection
methods.
• Experience working within a registered quality management system
High school diploma with some post-secondary course work.
