Automation Engineer (Solon, Ohio)
Client in Solon, Ohio is hiring an Automation Engineer, strengths in PLC's and other controls as well as Robotics will be required. This position is a Direct Hire.
Direct Controls / Automation Engineer
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Bachelor of Engineering: Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical desired
5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Multi-axis CNC milling machining knowledge a plus (Mazak, DMG, Stama, Hardinge).
Experience in Fanuc robots programming, setup, and repair.
PLC: Siemens, Fanuc with knowledge of Heidenhain, Mitsubishi, Mazatrol preferred.
Knowledge of servo motors, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Knowledge of high voltage power distribution.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet, IOT, and Smart Factory networks.
Demonstrated technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls concepts in machining and manufacturing processes.
Ability to use a computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems.
Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with a high level of accountability for results.
Strong work ethic, self-starter, responsible, follow through on assignments.
Desire to work beyond assignments to improve output and/or help others.
Tasks:
Under the direction of the Facility Manager:
Be subject matter expert in Electrical, Automation, and PLC troubleshooting and repair for the facility.
Troubleshoot and repair CNC machining centers for electrical and PLC-related issues.
Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of the electrical and control aspects of equipment and tools required for production.
Conduct equipment risk assessments with Manufacturing and EHS.
Design, plan and implement upgrades to electrical safety circuits in line with machine guarding and safety assessments.
Optimize robot and machine programs to improve reliability and remove waste.
Participate in equipment build/run-off and acceptance processes.
Provide project report outs to management.
Ability to learn new skills, and coach/mentor others on control-related issues, using a hands-on approach.
Document processes and train maintenance team members on proper execution or repair and troubleshooting.
Support Internet of Things (IOT) and smart factory integration projects.
Flex shifts: Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, weekends as needed.
