Title: MES Engineer

Component: exteriors plastics and metal automotive components, bumper systems

Travel percentage: 5% travel to corporate for training

Position: Full Time Direct Hire / Permanent / Exempt

Openings: 1

Bonus: yes, quarterly

Shift: Afternoon

Hours: 3pm - 11pm

Days: Monday through Friday

Educational requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience: 5+ years in manufacturing

Company/plant Environment: Non-Nicotine facility. Nicotine will be vetted in the initial 10 Panel Drug screen. Can't be a smoker to get the role.

Specific Job Duties:

  • MES Engineer will be required to participate in daily shift meetings.
  • MES Engineer will be required to maintain and update all MES systems within Norplas.
  • MES Engineer must work in conjunction with production, process, and automation, developing the most robust handshaking systems.
  • MES Engineer will develop the specifications on future projects that will have an MES system.
  • MES Engineer will manage all Engineering Changes (EC) in the MES and work with APQP on specific part number changeovers and proper execution. This includes ensuring new product labeling changes and Initial product tagging systems.
  • MES Engineer will develop all custom reports, displays, and labeling updates as required.
  • MES Engineer will monitor assembly lines running an MES and be able to make on the fly decisions on how to manage live broadcasts running through those lines to minimize scrap and mismatch sequences through stations.
  • MES Engineer will oversee testing manual back up broadcast systems and ensuring a no glitch changeover if primary broadcast methods were to fail.
  • MES Engineer will prepare KPI information for monthly internal review.
  • MES Engineer will be responsible for ensuring launch checklists and open issues are maintained and up to date.
  • MES Engineer needs to engage with senior leadership on continuous improvements and daily issues.
  • MES Engineer must take a "hands on" approach to all areas of assembly and sequencing.
  • MES Engineer must follow timelines and keep Program launch check lists up to date for their required items.
  • MES Engineer will participate in open issues meetings and be able to speak to updates and timing.
  • MES Engineer Must be self-motivated have a flexible schedule and plan to travel, possibly for extended periods of time.
  • MES Engineer must continuously improve processes utilizing synchronous and lean manufacturing techniques to improve labor efficiencies and quality.
  • MES Engineer Assist in investigating customer and sequencing quality issues and implement corrective action plans to improve our products and processes.
  • MES Engineer will review new technologies, benchmarking them against other Magna divisions, as well as other manufacturing facilities to determine their relevance.

Educational Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Technology.
  • Exposure to synchronous manufacturing, Manufacturing Execution systems, and some Knowledge of PLC/HMI systems.
  • Must understand SQL data bases and be fluent in programming and writing custom queries, reports, custom labeling, developing web base reports, and displays.

Related Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills a must (Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD, Visview)
  • InSequence, Nysus, or Solidat background preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a minimal supervision and participate as a team player.
