Job description
Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Lab Processor for our Central Lab located in Westerville, OH. The Processor will assist the laboratory team in processing clinical specimens used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The employee performs all routine and stat processing. This position is responsible for entering patient and specimen data. This position may perform training functions as deemed necessary. Duties may also include assisting with patient care in draw stations. This position is part-time working Monday- Friday 1p- 5p or 6p-10p.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with receiving, logging, sorting, counting and processing specimens. Prepares specimens for technical testing. Preserves sample integrity and creates split samples when appropriate.
Retrieves samples for add-on testing.
Performs waived laboratory procedures for kit test after training and competency have been documented.
Sorts and files requisitions.
Prepares batches for Reference Lab Testing.
Stocks inventory and maintains a clean work area. Fills supply orders for sites. Disposes biohazard material in the correct container.
Customer service duties such as answer phone, look up results, fax or print results, page phlebotomist, etc. including problem resolution.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Performs specimen culture set ups.
Assist patients with phlebotomy needs in the lab draw station if applicable.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
All other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Licensures & Certifications
Required: HS diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform waived kit testing
Knowledge of laboratory equipment for centrifuging, etc.
Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with the lab staff
Skill in keeping accurate record
Skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions
Ability to follow written protocol
Ability to work independently or as a team member
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to be adaptable to a changing work environment
