McCurtain Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit, county-owned hospital located in scenic Idabel, Oklahoma, has an outstanding opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer. Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to conduct this key search.

McCurtain Memorial Hospital, located in the picturesque rolling hills of McCurtain County, has provided healthcare services to the region for over 60 years. The facility is currently designated as a critical access hospital, however, on February 8th, 2022, a community vote will be held on building a new hospital (which is expected to pass). The new campus will feature a 162,000 square foot PPS community hospital with 50 inpatient beds and 20 behavioral health, a 160-bed assisted living facility, a 50-bed LTC and a medical office building. Both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University Medical Schools have pledged a partnership if the new facility is built. The new facility will also provide the ability to recruit additional primary care and specialty providers.

Opportunity: The Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for the Accounting, Revenue Cycle and IT departments, as well as four off-site clinics via a Practice Manager. Additional responsibility is likely if the new hospital vote passes. Net patient revenues are approximately $3M per month.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have at least three years prior CFO experience within a rural health setting. Both critical access and PPS experience preferred. A combination of knowledge and drive is imperative as this person will be a key driver in converting the hospital from CAH to PPS if the vote passes as expected. Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to lead a broad range of audiences. Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning abilities. A Bachelor's Degree is required, with a master's and CPA preferred.

Idabel, OK: Idabel is the county seat of McCurtain County, Oklahoma, with a population of approximately 7,000. It is located in the southeast corner of Oklahoma, a tourist area known as Choctaw Country. Idabel is on the border of Texas (less than 10 miles) and 21 miles west of the Arkansas border.

The Ouachita National Forest, Oklahoma's only national forest, is also in this area. Choctaw Country also houses "The World's Highest Hill," a 1,999-foot peak near Poteau, as the official designation for a "mountain" is land that is 2,000-feet or taller.

The region contains Oklahoma's largest lake by surface area, Lake Eufaula. Other major lakes include Robert S. Kerr Reservoir, Sardis Lake, Hugo Lake, McGee Creek Reservoir, Pine Creek Lake, Broken Bow Lake, Lake Wister, Lake Atoka Reservoir, and on Choctaw Country's southwestern border, Lake Texoma.
