Systems Engineer

Job description

The systems engineer will ensure the stable operation of the entire network and server infrastructure. The position will provide planning, installation, maintenance, technical support, and optimization of the VMware virtual environment and iSCSI SANs. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows, VMware vSphere, Linux, and iSCSI SANs are required for this position. The role involves systems and technical support for all of the above platforms. The ability to work with end users and quickly identify and implement solutions to their support issues is vital. The ideal candidate is a resilient team player who is goal-oriented and fully committed. The position will provide 24/7 support as necessary and may require occasional after-hours and weekend work.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITES:
* Provide technical support for Windows and Linux Server environment.
* Administration, support, and optimization of VMware virtual environment.
* Monitors and addresses both physical and virtual servers daily to ensure the overall health of the network.
* Support all core, top of rack, and edge switches.
* Support and maintain Azure and On-Premise Active Directory and group policies.
* Support all Microsoft, third party, and internally designed applications.
* Upgrade and maintain multiple iSCSI SANs
* Manage and support SD-WAN data circuits across multiple branch office locations.
* Perform network connectivity, troubleshooting and optimization.
* Support and maintain Central Station alarm receiver hardware and software (Training Provided).
* Provide detailed system and configuration documentation as required.
* Provide support and troubleshooting of IP phone system and related circuits.
* Review and follow-up with open problem tickets daily.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
* Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANS, Routing, DNS, Firewall, WLAN, and other networking technologies.
* Experience supporting multiple MPLS/WAN/SD-WAN circuits and subnets.
* Proficiency in supporting and programming HP, Dell, and/or Cisco network switches.
* Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019.
* Microsoft Active Directory and group policy management.
* VMware vSphere 6.5+ Enterprise.
* Microsoft 365 and Exchange 2019.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft Platforms, VMware Virtual Environment, and Network Communications.
* MCSE, MCITP, CCNA, and/or VCP certification desired but not required.
* Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and occasional extended hours.
