Associate VP of Treasury - Portland, OR or Remote


Charter School Capital is the nation's leading provider of growth capital and NNN lease real estate financing to charter schools. Over the last 10 years, the Company has put more than $2 billion to work for 800+ charter schools educating more than 1.5 million students across the country. Charter School Capital currently funds its working capital activities (factoring and secured loans) through several secured bank facilities as well as a securitization vehicle. The company funds the real estate investments through a combination of preferred stock, municipal bonds, and bank financing. The company is looking to expand its base of debt and equity investors in both businesses.


The Associate VP of Treasury is a critical role to ensure Charter School Capital has sufficient capital to meet its growth objectives while simultaneously seeking to optimize financing costs. This person will engage closely with the Finance team to provide critical support to the CFO in raising capital. Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as internal point person to drive Charter School Capital's efforts to raise capital to fund its working capital and facilities financing business.
  • Coordinate internal efforts in the process of introducing Charter School Capital as an investment opportunity all the way through a funded investment.
  • Support structuring, negotiation and closing of both equity and debt financings.
  • Effectively contribute to and manage investment materials as the vehicle for presenting Charter School Capital investment opportunities to potential investors.
  • Support and participate in investor presentations as Charter School Capital seeks to raise capital.
  • Provide support in constructing different financing structures that align investors with Charter School Capital's investment opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate the Charter School Capital business model as investors diligence investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate the interface with potential investors (or their agents) and lenders to field inquiries and diligence requests.
  • Coordinate the internal team as investments move from presentation, to negotiation of terms, to agreements, to funded deals.
  • Where possible, bring prior relationships and connections to investors or lenders that might be interested in Charter School Capital investments.
  • Support the financial planning work of Charter School Capital's facilities financing business and potential investment vehicles.

Education/Experience:

  • Three to four years of relevant experience in a financial institution.
  • Experience in an origination and/or structuring support role in investment or commercial banking preferred. Real estate, public finance and/or structured finance experience also preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, business or equivalent (MBA or Masters in finance preferred, but not required).
  • Experience in real estate capital raising a plus, but not required.


Qualifications:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively construct PowerPoint presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with financial intermediaries.
  • Capacity to build, understand and maintain complex financial models; advanced excel skills.
  • Experience in the capital raising process, either through an investment bank or other company in the Treasury capacity.
  • Desire to work in a highly entrepreneurial setting.
