Quality Control Technician for a new food manufacturing company in NE Portland . (Other Positions Available).
Quality Control Technician I & II - Full-Time, competitive Pay
Summary: Assists Quality Management in the maintenance of overall product quality and safety.
Assists in the effective completion of tasks and documentation of Food Safety and Quality responsibilities. In event of absence position will be filled by the Sr. Quality Technician or Quality Tech Level III.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receives leadership and daily direction from shift Senior Quality Technician Supervisor. Routinely observes production activities in prep, cook room and packaging to assure consistency and conformance to quality standards, as well as providing improvement suggestions. Monitor standards and controls in relation to the production and packaging of high-quality soups. Regularly conducts Food Safety Inspections in the production environment:
- Inter-batch cleaning, verification audits Assists in the effective completion and documentation of Daily, Weekly and Monthly tasks including Direct Observations, Thaw Tank and Temperature Verifications, and Pre-operational inspection audits Complete Quality related production records utilizing paper records and SafetyChain software.
- Demonstrates knowledge in maintaining adherence to IP Programs which may include Organic Processing, Non-GMO, Gluten free, Halal, Kosher Notifies Senior Quality Technician or Tech Level 3 when non-conformances are noted, assists with scheduling product evaluations, and assuring proper documentation.
- Assists Quality Management with verification and validation by collecting required data. Assists with product or equipment holds when necessary Perform regular swabbing for environmental testing Ensure compliance of incoming labels and packaging Inspect finished product for food safety hazards including foreign material. Maintain the condition of the Quality supplies required for daily operation. Organize finished product retains Filing Quality documentation as requested.
- Be able to perform all Tasks assigned to Quality Tech Level 1 Other duties with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities for Food Safety All employees are responsible for upholding the requirements of the current SQF code Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly. Must adhere to and enforce posted GMPs Good Manufacturing Practices when working within the production facility. Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
- Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals. If monitoring CCPs Critical Control Points, must be trained in HACCP Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point and adhere to approved HACCP plan.
- Education and/or Experience High School Diploma preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively both in written form and verbally. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent. Reasoning Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of data entry and moderately proficient with spreadsheet software and word processing software.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations This position requires a valid driver's license, pre-employment and annual screening of Motor Vehicle Record and personal automobile insurance coverage in accordance with the Company Employee Handbook. Other Skills and Abilities Must possess strong attention to detail. Must have moderate computer skills. No known allergies.
