We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator Hospice - Hospice West Portland that will recruit, screen, interview, train, assign and supervise volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator also provides volunteers ongoing educational opportunities, support and recognition. Other responsibilities include: communicating with members of the interdisciplinary team, assessing and coordinating volunteer assignments, maintaining documentation pertaining to volunteer services, maintaining data base and personnel files for the volunteers, and keeping the volunteer program in compliance with Providence Policy, The Joint Commission, and Medicare standards.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
* Continuously recruits volunteers within and outside of Providence Health and Services
* Screen, interview and train volunteers for hospice service
* Participate in the Community Hospice Training Coalition to collaborate in planning, evaluation and provision of training for volunteers
* Plan and facilitate volunteer orientation, education programs and in-service meetings, in compliance with Providence policy, The Joint Commission and Medicare standards
* Assign volunteers. Maintains a master schedule of volunteers and assignments
* Supervise the work of the volunteers on a day-to-day basis utilizing the following resources: telephone contact, face to face interactions, email contact, hospice staff and supervisory visits to provide support
* Provide an annual written evaluation for each volunteer and offers opportunities for volunteer input in the evaluation
* Provide service for patient/family while maintaining an optimal experience for the volunteer in recognition of the importance of volunteer retention
* Document in the patient's medical records
* Maintain a personnel and medical file on each hospice volunteer
* Coordinate recognition events for volunteers to recognize and reward volunteers for their service to hospice patients and their families
* Attend staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings. Participates in staff orientation and other meetings
* Engage in community outreach to increase the knowledge of volunteer service as well as recruit additional volunteers
Required qualifications for this position includes:
* Two (2) years of experience in volunteer coordination role
* Demonstrated experience in event planning
* Valid driver's license
* Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
* Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Liberal Arts, or related field
* Hospice experience
* Experience using electronic medical record software
