Pacific Coast Producers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking a Human Resources Manager for its production facility in Salem, Oregon.

This exempt-level manager will be responsible for providing leadership in human resources and labor relations activities for this facility that employs between 70 - 100 employees. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager in Salem and indirectly to Director level HR staff at the Corporate office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, process, and orientate all new employees to fill employment needs at both plants. Verifies all required paperwork is completed by new hires.
  • Prepare daily work schedule and notify employees of scheduled times.
  • Interpret the union contract and work with the union representative to resolve employee grievances and issues.
  • Ensure the company is in compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Administer the workers compensation program and act as primary contact with WC Carrier Representative on claims and return to work.
  • Coordinate safety training as required by OSHA regulations, assure employee attendance, and maintain training records.
  • Provide advice to managers and supervisors on CBA employee disciplinary issues; maintain documentation on disciplinary actions taken.
  • Assure plant payroll is processed and paid on a timely basis.
  • Update, maintain, and manage all employee records.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings.
  • Respond to and provide requested information from local, state and federal agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Corporate Human Resources.
  • Supervises the Human Resources/Payroll Assistant.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; and 5 years' experience in human resource management.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regulating employment practices, wages, working conditions, and civil rights.
  • Knowledge of human resource policies, procedures and practices relating to recruitment and selection, equal employment opportunity, training, and employee relations.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member; organize and prioritize work; and delegate work to others.
  • Demonstrates good leadership skills and an ability to work effectively with others.
  • Computer skills required with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge and experience desired in ADP, UKG, or similar HCM system.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and effectively handles conflict situations.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes sitting, walking, using a keyboard, touching, hearing, and speaking. Moderate physical activity includes standing, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
