Ferguson is the largest wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies and pipe, valves and fittings in the U.S. The company is also a major distributor of HVAC equipment, fire protection systems, waterworks and industrial products and services. Ferguson and its subsidiaries serve customers in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Ferguson is seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a Business Development Manager to support our Renovations business. This position allows a remote work setup (work from a home office), but the associate must be located in the Northern CA market as the territory spans as far north as Reno, NV and south as far as Bakersfield, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analysis of business opportunities, consistent with the organization's long range and strategic plans.
  • Direct the planning and preparation of business proposals and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee the development of key projects and is accountable for the successful closure of business deals.
  • Responsible for the overall development, implementation and progress of strategic business targets.
  • Direct and coach lower level professionals.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of principles and concepts.
  • Involved in developing new processes to meet project needs, and for designing projects to suit the financial and operating criteria of a project.
  • Perform projects of complex scope.
  • Prepare documents and materials (for example, reports, presentations, information packages) for meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners so that the information provided is accurate and appropriate for external distribution.
  • Forecast assigned brand shipments quarterly.
  • Develop or implement product or sales initiatives.
  • Maintain contact with the key decision makers internally and externally.


Qualifications

Prior experience in Facilities Maintenance sales is preferred, but comparable industry knowledge in multifamily renovation project management and experience in selling plumbing, appliances, lighting, HVAC, hardware, and other building materials would also be considered. A successful Business Development Manager will possess the following:

  • 5+ years of Business Development Management experience is preferred
  • A strong sales background required; construction industry preferred
  • A competitive drive
  • Problem solving, leadership and listening skills
  • Product and vendor knowledge in plumbing, lighting, appliance and hardware, doors, HVAC experience is required (or the ability to quickly learn it)
  • Valid driver's license required, role requires heavy travel
