While a major focus of the role is to support Intellectual Property Management, our Paralegal will have an opportunity to work with department members across a variety of functions, including exciting and developing areas like Corporate Social Responsibility and Data Privacy.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Coordination of company's intellectual property operations and compliance
Assists with IP portfolio creation and maintenance including requests to obtain product data, inventor signatures, and other information necessary for trademark and patent applications and renewals
Ensures that matters created in IP docketing system are reflected in MSA Law Department's e-billing system for outside counsel and third-party vendors
Reviews bills from outside counsel and third-party vendors for consistency with MSA Outside Counsel Guidelines
Supports patent related inventor rewards program and remuneration
Works with IP Counsel to coordinate IP review teams and meetings
Identifies opportunities to streamline IP operations and compliance
Facilitates inventor support and responds to requests for information about patents, trademarks, copyrights and IP/technology related agreements
Administration of legal compliance technology
Provides primary support to web-based compliance training courses, reviews training provider course catalogs for available courses, edits selected courses as directed by in-house counsel, deploys and tracks the courses to completion using learning management system dashboard, and schedules live "virtual" and in-person trainings, as directed by in-house counsel
Supports the Company's third-party due diligence cloud platform, including monitoring new submissions, preparing regular reports for in-house counsel and regional business representatives, and mapping existing system data to assess potential gaps in due diligence.
Supports administration of the Company's cloud-based ethics investigations case management system, including periodic reporting and analysis of trends
Supports administration of the Company's data privacy cloud-based compliance tool
Support administration of Law Department programs on substantive legal topics, compliance and ethics, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Conducts legal research on commercial and compliance matters at the request of in-house counsel
Supports administration of the Company's global privacy program
Supports administration of the Company's CSR program
Prepares monthly CSR dashboard with input from each stakeholder
Assists in compiling answers to customer CSR questionnaires
Maintains company database housing ISS/MSCI/EcoVadis information
Assists with administration of Law Department's Diversity & Inclusion efforts
Support of litigation activities
Supports discovery, e-discovery and administration of legal holds
Creates new matters in the electronic legal billing system
Reviews and administratively processes invoices from outside counsel
Qualifications:
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Exceptional organizational and document management skills
• Proven ability to maintain accurate records
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
• Demonstrated ability to solicit, compile, analyze and report on data
Education and Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) and/or Paralegal Certification from accredited paralegal program
• 2 years of patent or trademark experience
This position is available at three different levels based on education, experience, etc.:
• Level I-Minimum 2 years in a law firm or corporate environment
• Level II-Minimum 5 years in a law firm or corporate environment
• Level III-Minimum 8 years in a law firm or corporate environment
• Coursework in IP, patents, trademarks or engineering may be substituted for experience.
Preferred:
• Experience with reviewing invoices from outside counsel
• Familiarity with Foundations IP system, IP portfolio docketing systems and online US and foreign patent and trademark databases
• Familiarity with Serengeti Legal Tracker
• Familiarity with Legal Compliance and Privacy requirements
• Familiarity with Corporate Social Responsibility efforts
