Job description
COMPANY Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) is seeking a Vice President of Business Development with a proven track record of success in the 3rd party Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive MRO experience, and success developing and maintaining high level business relationships and proven successes creating MRO strategies with new and existing customers in the Commercial Airline, General Aviation and military markets worldwide. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and be a recognized thought-leader in the MRO industry and will have extensive knowledge of the aerospace market, products and the sector's competitive landscape. The ideal candidate will have extensive MRO and aerospace industry relationships and success in the formation of strategic end user, OEM and third-party partnerships. The selected candidate will oversee and guide the development of detailed proposals and bid packages that provide competitive, value-based solutions to the customer with demonstrable year on year growth. Our expectation is that this Business Development Leader will drive profitable sales year on year, increase the customer base, market share, and overall profitability. This position will report to the Vice President and General Manager of the MRO Division.
Position Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with our global sales teams to develop overarching sales and marketing strategies with the major MRO customers worldwide. Ensure the development of strategic relationships with key decision makers to aid our existing teams in account penetration, management and expansion by leveraging COMPANY's nose to tail component capability and global presence
• Hands-on approach to increasing sales, including improving credibility with customers by building trust, rapport, and confidence with the targeted customer's upper management to further enhance our existing relationships with these organizations
• Leverage knowledge of the 3rd party component MRO industry to achieve short-term and long-term revenue goals in the OEM, Commercial and Military markets we serve
• Lead strategic MRO business development initiatives including the identification and development of business case models for new product and new capability development. Work with the Division's Engineering teams to contribute to the viability and projected success of New Product Development projects through go to market and value-added propositions that grow sales and develop new customers
• Use industry trade shows, conferences, and social media to position COMPANY as a leading provider of nose to tail MRO and component solutions to our targeted customers
• Analyze industry trends in order to identify expansion opportunities
• Expand aftermarket and/or OEM sales from OEM's on end of life programs where they no longer want to support a product, seek opportunistic OEM product development, and opportunities for PMA or DER development that are financially sound.
• Oversee at a high level the development of proposals that may be firm fixed, time and materials, or manufacturing plays that meet the top line and bottom-line objectives
• Provide market feedback across all MRO businesses on new product development, market pricing, and general market trends in addition to competitor analysis.
• Support financial reporting including forecasting, budgets, and quarterly reporting requirements.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
• Possess a broad range of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector contacts with experience in developing and managing key relationships with commercial airline executives, leading aerospace vendors and governmental officials.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry with direct experience growing the MRO market in the aerospace sector
• Demonstrable track record of improving sales year on year relevant to the MRO and aerospace markets served and can have an immediate impact to the top line.
• Accomplished Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business development leader with a proven track record of achieving targeted sales growth and account profitability with 15 years' experience in the aerospace and MRO markets.
• Creative MRO sales visionary to drive profitable growth through strategic price increases, new product sales, and geographic expansion.
• Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve objectives with a team approach.
• Superior written and verbal communications, decision making, problem-solving, and organizational skills essential.
• Timely decision maker, able to prioritize critical tasks that add the highest value.
• Unquestioned integrity and personal values.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coach teams on complex sales negotiations and use of problem-solving techniques.
• Capacity to measure and track progress, know how to design effective and efficient business development processes.
• Advanced written and oral communications skills.
• Experience presenting to corporate executive team a must.
Education Required:
• College degree is or equivalent experience required, Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Business preferred.
• MBA preferred or advanced degree a plus.
