Job Description:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager - Pharma Focus. Our ideal candidate and position focus will be based out of the PA/MD/NJ area. Our Business Development Manager - Pharma Focus is responsible to serve as the primary commercial contact between the customer and SMC. As the account lead, to increase base business within existing accounts as well as prospect, develop and grow new accounts. To develop the account strategy and manage the overall relationship. This position generally works Monday through Friday.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create strategic and tactical account plans aimed at achieving revenue growth.
- Identify, target and engage customers that fit SMC's profitability and capability profile.
- Understand potential customer needs to provide a unique SMC value proposition vs. the competition.
- Work with Program Managers and/or quote team to generate customer proposals.
- Identify emerging technology, trends and directions of potential customers
- Provide accurate forecasts including risks and opportunities.
- Conduct high-impact presentations with decision makers including senior- level management. Sell up and broad within accounts.
- Embrace and drive sales activity using SMC's Customer Relations Management Tool (CRM).
- Manage all customer communication to the appropriate support teams including plant, program management, and senior management.
- Drive projects to successful launch working with the Project Manager and various internal teams.
- Provide competitive input to the quote team for RFQ's to generate proposals and deliver to the customer. Follow-up and provide feedback to the team.
- Drive all Non-Disclosure Agreements and Supplier Development Agreements for potential customer opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field and 6 years' experience in medical device or Pharma manufacturing OR, two- year post high school diploma in a related field and ten years of experience.
- Previous experience working directly with customers to understand their business drivers and objectives.
- Demonstrated solid decision-making skills combined with ethical business conduct.
- Proven negotiating skills to facilitate contracts and close "profitable" business.
- Exceptional communication and persuasion skills to communicate both externally and internally.
- Previous Pharma CMO or Drug Delivery sales experience
- Previous experience managing accounts with a minimum of $3M in revenue
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in injecting molding or related plastics manufacturing.
- Previous experience using Sales Force.
- Master's degree.
ADA Requirements:
- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly
- Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 40 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
- Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
- Travel by air or car frequently ~35%)
