Job description
The NAM AML KYC Screening & Sanctions Senior Group Manager is management-level position responsible for managing all processes executed in support of the NAM AML KYC programs, regardless of function, and having appropriate controls and monitoring in place to evidence compliance with applicable regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, as well as all applicable Citi policies. This role manages a team of 5+ US based analysts and project managers overseeing risk-based AML & Sanctions end to end screening processes and procedures across the NAM Cards business. This role reports directly to the Head of the NAM AML KYC Screening & Sanctions Team and will be responsible for the following:
- Manage team to identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, technology opportunities, and to partner with key stakeholders to develop and drive solutions to screening policies and procedures for NAM Card in a dynamic and constantly evolving regulatory environment.
- Manage end-to-end risk management oversight of Citis AML Name Screening program for NAM Card to ensure it meets the minimum requirements set forth by the AML Name Screening Standard and the Global Sanctions Policy.
- Manage all facets of project plan development and execution of multiple NAM Card AML Name Screening projects as driven by both regulatory requirements as well as non-mandatory efficiency enhancements.
- Interpret and understand governing policies to ensure screening processes are adherent across functional areas to ensure compliance by leading implementation plans driving to adherence
- Develop, manage and continuously optimize all aspects of identifying trends, themes, and tendencies that indicate risks and manage deep dives into any significant current or emerging risk areas within NAM Card AML Name Screening program.
- Participate in business governance and oversight discussions with internal partners across the firm to review and identify significant risks in processes and procedures and develop specific recommendations for execution functions to action.
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key partners (e.g. AML KYC and Screening Operations teams, AML, ICRM Sanctions, Technology, Internal Audit, and Risk teams)
- Create and occasionally present relevant material as necessary at senior level governance forums such as the AML Name Screening Subcommittee as well as for meetings with stakeholders.
- Ensure adequate capacity planning/workload prioritization across the US CBORC space while maintaining a robust control environment that aligns with Citis overall strategy for Controls Transformation.
- Act as single point of contact for the NAM Cards business during audits and regulatory reviews of the AML & Sanctions Name Screening program to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables.
- Responsible for the NAM Card Business Risk Officer function as outlined in the Global AML New Product Approval (NPA) Standard and the Procedures for Assessing Sanctions Risk
Job Qualifications:
- 8-10 years in at least one of the following: Compliance, Risk, Operational Risk, Risk Operations, or Project Management with experience in AML compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof; experience with the NAM Card line of Business
- Expertise of AML and Sanctions regulations, risks, and typologies with relevant AML and/or Sanctions Certification desired
- Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive
- Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility in prior roles
- Proven track record of success, with particular emphasis on leading change
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging with people at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work collaboratively with functional units; ability to navigate a complex organization; to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level
- Experience working with stakeholders both within and outside the first line of defense
- Proven leadership skills, with emphasis in high-stakes and high-visibility scenarios
- Demonstrated knowledge in area of focus
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiencies in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Bachelors degree preferred; Advanced degree desired
