Job Summary
The Lakadamyali ( lakadamyali-lab.com/ ) and Mir labs ( mir-lab.com ) at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's hospital of Philadelphia utilize and develop advanced imaging technologies including super-resolution microscopy, single molecule tracking, and high resolution light-sheet microscopy to study a variety of fundamental biophysical phenomena in cells, tissues, and embryos.
We are seeking a computational image analysis specialist to support the missions of our labs. The role will include developing customized analysis pipelines for on-going projects in the lab as well as opportunities to develop novel algorithms for dealing with the new types of data produced by our cutting-edge instrumentation.
The ideal candidate is fluent in Python, MATLAB, digital image processing, working with large (TB scale) datasets, and familiar with machine learning platforms. Additionally, they are curious, hard-working, detail oriented, and well-organized with the capability to work on multiple projects at a time. Previous experience working biological microscopy data are highly desired.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs research procedures on experimental samples with minimal supervision
- Formulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes & reports the data
- Performs tasks that require knowledge of advanced techniques and equipment
- Performs advanced calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
- Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
- Assists in development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas
- May be required to modify scientific methods and protocols (in conjunction with PI)
- Checks others results for completeness and accuracy
- May be responsible for training and mentoring new staff
- Assists in the preparing of grants journal articles, poster and oral presentations
- May perform routine and non-routine tests / experiments as needed

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of laboratory experience
