What You'll Do:

As a Driver/Activities Assistant , you will carry out our Mission of Love by being r esponsible for transporting all Masonic Village's residents, and to transport assigned passengers on in-town and out-of-town trips and therapeutic recreation activities; also to provide a comprehensive and diverse recreation program designed to assist our residents in reaching or attaining the highest potential in their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being by maintaining the appropriate competencies and skills through continued education that encompasses each of these areas.

Our Driver/Activities Assistant is responsible for the following:

  • Provides recreational programming in a safe, caring, timely and appropriate manner to assist each resident in attaining their highest potential. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates recreational groups and activities focused on resident-centered care using creativity and flexibility to meet the function, cognitive, and age related variances of the resident population being served. Encourages resident participation in recreational activities. Supports residents to develop and maintain resident-led activities or special interest clubs as needed. Must be available for day, evening, weekend, and holiday work assignments as needed to best serve the resident population.
  • Assists with assessment, development, and implementation of appropriate resident goals. Observes, records, and reports to supervising staff resident attendance, level of participation, progress, and response to the program in a timely manner. Participates in interdisciplinary care planning meetings as needed.
  • Develops and distributes communications to keep residents and staff informed of recreation activities in a timely manner. Assists residents with correspondence and written materials as requested.
  • Organizes and leads community trips in accordance with Masonic Village policy and procedure. Transports residents to / from activities appropriately. Safely operates Masonic Village vehicles for community outings according to policies and procedures.
  • Reports observations, changes, unusual conditions or reactions to supervisor or appropriate discipline in a timely manner. Takes appropriate action as requested or required by the situation.
  • Operate all vehicles used for transportation of Masonic Village's passengers in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains PA Driver's license and abides by all requirements of the license.
  • Check general operation of all vehicles with special attention to daily checks of all safety equipment. Report vehicle equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance Department personnel responsible for vehicle mechanical maintenance. Keeps buses neat and clean.
  • Responsible for operation of Masonic Village vehicles for the purpose of transporting residents and guests on activity outings, trips and shuttle runs. This would include notifying Masonic Village personnel when there is an emergency, logging accurate attendance and documenting activity as required.
  • Take assigned passengers to local transportation areas (airports, bus, and train stations).
  • Pick up and deliver material for Masonic Village's staff as directed.

What You Have:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with five years of related activities experience in an assisted living or long term care setting required.
  • Good written, oral, organizational, and basic computer skills to include internet navigation for research.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver License and ability to drive cars, vans, and other passenger vehicles.
  • CPR certification (prior to or upon employment).
