Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Technical Manager for its OSB manufacturing facility in Alcolu, SC. This position creates value by leading the plant operating improvement efforts and quality management system. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and improving quality systems, driving, and optimizing technological process improvements, and supervising/developing team members to support the mill's talent position.
What You Will Do In Your Role
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Provide technical expertise for the OSB process.
Be the site owner for the Specialty manufacturing lines
Drive mill continuous improvement in product quality; support technical innovation and initiatives at the plant.
Increase efficiency while maintaining consistency of the manufacturing process. Review and analyze process data.
Work with optimizer/maintenance leadership on projects that support the mill - improvement of operating margins, justification for capital projects.
Work directly with other Georgia-Pacific plants to initiate change and share process improvements.
Function as plant contact for 3rd party vendors, while supporting and updating quality resource materials.
Manage, coach, and develop QA/QC team members.
Lead employees to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment. Provide safety training and resources to employees to ensure safe working environment.
Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, and encouraging employee commitment and accountability.
Drive cultural change in which employees take ownership for running the facility.
Apply knowledge of production processes, safety and environmental legal requirements, and basic financial concepts.
Conduct work in a way that is consistent with our MBM® management philosophy.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
Two (2) or more years' experience with Quality Control or Quality Assurance in a industrial manufacturing environment
Experience using Microsoft Office Software (Word-creating, editing, formatting documents, preparing reports & tables; Excel- creating, modifying spreadsheets, using functions, filters, and graphs to analyze data).
What Will Put You Ahead
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Wood Science, Engineering or related field.
One (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
Prior experience in continuous manufacturing operations environment.
