Our client, a rental company, is seeking an IT Solutions Architect (ERP)
Location: Fort Mill, SC
Position Type: Full Time
Position Objective:
Provides guidance and support in the development of progress at all iSeries system layers, including iSeries application data, processing, and front-end systems for iSeries environment supporting AS400 applications. Responsible for assisting design, development, and implementation of IBM iSeries systems and their associated operating systems and databases.
Participation in full life cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Contributes to design sessions with Systems Architects, Requirements Analysts, and IT Operations.
- Reviews existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality
- Provides support for configuration of production, test, and development environments
- Administers processes to provide data refresh to test and development environments
- Provides technical support for the complete iSeries environment, which includes system administration on configuration, sizing, and support on implementation changes
- Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services
- Creates work effort estimates for assigned tasks and support prioritization and release management
- Develops core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes
- Installs, administers, configures, and maintains applications
- Provides 'on call' support to resolve application issues after normal business hours
- Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window)
- Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages
- Documents systems configurations and upgrades
- Follows and understands established change control policies and disaster recovery plans
- Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience plus 5+ years of iSeries L3/Engineering support experience in a multi-LPAR environment, including 3+ years of System Administration experience
- Working knowledge of BRMS
- Working knowledge of all native commands
- Strong ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications
- Strong ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures
- Strong ability to troubleshoot application problems
- Broad knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools
- Broad knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring and control of the systems engineering process
- Strong knowledge of IBMi, journaling, work management, performance tuning and analysis, OS upgrades, patching, and third-party installations, upgrades, and patching
- Full knowledge and use of AS400 OS commands required
- Experience with Backup and Recovery methods and solutions required
- Basic CL programming and SQL knowledge preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience in Aldon LMi with ability to create or maintain Aldon applications/releases preferred
- Experience with replication or HA software (MIMIX / Vision Solutions) preferred
- BRMS experience preferred
- Experience with Help Systems Products preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner preferred
