Position Summary:

Operates machinery to place logs on to the sharp chain, turn them correctly with the "horns" down and run them through the chipper heads and bandsaws in order to produce cants for the gang saw. Perform preventative maintenance on machinery when needed. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered, together with a safe, high quality work environment. This position is for 2nd shift (Overnight Shift offering a Shift Differential)

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the logs are dropping and positioning properly on the sharp chain when in automatic or manual operating mode using turning rolls to align the "horns" down and thumper rolls to guide log down the line
• Watch for cross-ups on the infeed decks and call slasher operator or utility worker for assistance when needed
• Use "batwings" to return fallen logs off the chain in a safe and efficient manner to minimize interruption to production - ask for assistance when needed
• Constantly observe chipper heads and bandsaw while operating to ensure
• Performs or assists with preventative maintenance on machinery including oiling/greasing chains and sprockets, replacing worn equipment and inspecting for defects, cleaning, and performing minor repairs as needed
• Assist with product transport as needed
• Refer to position deliverables addendum for specific production expectations
• Performs cleanup duties daily around the machine center using brooms, air hoses, and physical labor
• Other duties as assigned
