Job description

Purpose and Scope:
Works under limited direction to assist with the coordinated direction for Information Technology initiatives by supporting projects to ensure standardized project management practices, methods, and tools are being used to achieve desired performance standards and customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:

Assists with and develops individual project plans and project schedules to ensure performance measures, customer satisfaction, and student achievement requirements are identified as part of the project implementation plan. Assists with coordination efforts to manage projects for unit directors and other district personnel.

Assists division heads and/or administrators with effective management of project resources by providing support with coordinating user business needs and technology requirements with project management methodologies.

Ensures continuous process improvements by utilizing Project Management Office (PMO) software, processes, and methodologies such as in-depth work analyses and flow charts to ensure successful delivery of Project Management (PM) results.

Acts as a liaison between the Information Technology Department and unit directors in the support of various projects.

Works with internal and/or external customers to develop scopes, plans, and work projects to ensure progress is within specified guidelines and requirements and is completed on time and within budget.

Identifies, tracks, and monitors project issues and risks. Works to facilitate and develop solutions with customers.

Organizes and conducts project team meetings and mentors and provides expertise.

Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; Plus, four (4) years of related manager/supervisory experience in related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling eight (8) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.

PMP Certification a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Ability to communicate frequently and effectively with internal and external customers throughout the District, using tact and good judgment to complete assigned projects.

Ability to make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions, commits to action, even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals causing change.

Ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information using sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

Outstanding leadership skills and ability to build high-performing teams.

Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others and effectively deal with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed.

Ability to adapt to change, behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles effectively deals with ambiguity.

Strong written, verbal communication, analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex analysis in easy-to-understand manner and present to a broad audience.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers for sign language.

Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.

Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
