Position Summary: Aeglea BioTherapeutics based in Austin Texas, is actively recruiting for an associate scientist for analytical chemistry in our research group. He or she will be responsible to aid in the execution of the early analytical needs of the company and will involve helping in the establishment of analytical methods and procedures as well as the operational support to enable these goals. He or she will have practical knowledge and expertise in analytical chemistry and the use of analytical instruments to perform experimental tasks. The associate scientist will be an essential team player who will perform analytical tests, generate reports, and help interpret complex laboratory experiments with supervision and the guidance of the team lead.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:
- Execute on experiments to validate methods and procedures under guidance
- Perform sample analyses under guidance and input from supervisor and project teams
- Perform routine lab work including solution preparation, chemical waste disposal and instrument maintenance, etc.
- Review and provide input on new protocols and methods
- Troubleshoots technical issues associated with sample preparation and instrument
- Perform data analysis and document experimental procedures and data results in electronic notebooks
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:
An associate degree with 7+ years' experience or bachelor's degree with 2-7 years' of experience or Master's Degree with 0-2 years' of experience. A degree in chemistry or analytical chemistry is preferred- Experience with liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), desired
- Experience with analytical/bioanalytical sample preparation, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and concepts
- Knowledge of HPLC is strongly preferred
- Knowledge on the principles of assay development is preferred
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work as an individual contributor and as a team member
- Good communication skills including verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills. Proficiency in statistical analysis software desired
- Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to write reports and present scientific data

The Associate Scientist position is a bench chemist position that will involve standing for approximately 50% of your time, standing and walking for up to 25% of your time. Use of hands and fingers to mix and pipet samples, for typing and other computer activity for up to 25% of your time in the laboratory setting. Reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl less than 25% of your time. Ability to lift, up to 25lbs, less than 25% of the time.
