Who are we?

Remember the cartoon The Jetsons, as a kid? Or, how about the movie, Iron Man? Both of these shows have a key commonality: they showcased really killer homes that were souped up with the kind of technology that would blow your mind if that technology actually existed in real life.

Well, what was only sci-fi in those shows is rapidly becoming real life today. Consumer technology and smart-home systems are evolving at a rapid pace, which means homes being built or renovated today and in the coming years are going to look more and more like those homes in the movies.

At Captive Audio, we started out in 1994 with a simple mission- to create and install completely customized technology systems that fit each client's unique style and desires. Special care and close attention to detail is what we pride ourselves on, and we don't settle for anything less! While design and installation of home technology is our bread and butter, we don't stop there- when we complete our projects, a multi-person Service Department is on hand to assist our clients with any problems that arise.

And in other news- We couldn't be more excited about our recent acquisition of Sterling Home Technologies. By joining forces and leveraging the two companies' capabilities, we have created unprecedented capabilities and opportunities for our team members and clients. As a result, we offer an unparalleled level of service from Austin to San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

What would you be doing?

As the Controller for Captive Audio, you will spend the majority of your time managing the financial, administrative, and risk management operations for both Captive Audio and Sterling Home Technologies. We currently have financial forecasting and financial reporting processes in place; however, we're looking for someone to own them and build them out further to continuously improve.

Beyond general financial strategic responsibilities, the person in this role will be integrating accounting processes from both locations of our business (Captive Audio and Sterling Home Technologies).

At a more granular level, this position will be responsible for the following-

• Preparing general financial reports

• Analyzing financial data (analysis of variance to budget and plan)

• Coordinating and managing banking relationships (borrowing, cash management, etc.)

• Creating and/or monitoring internal controls

• Managing budgeting processes (company and departmental budgets and goals)

• Ensuring that applicable Federal, State, and local taxes are accurately calculated, filed, and paid on time

• Managing general financial transactions

• Streamlining accounting functions

• Evaluating and managing financial risk

• Managing project cost accounting

• Evaluating financial reporting, human resources, and other systems, processes, and procedures

We're looking for someone whose attention to detail is unmatched. The person in this role will be a trusted partner and advisor to our owner and leadership team when it comes to finance, so a high level of emotional intelligence and professionalism is key!

What should you bring to the table?

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

• At least 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role in a small to midsize company

• Leadership/management experience overseeing other financial and accounting professionals

• At least 1 year of experience with Quickbooks Desktop

• CPA license preferred!

• Strong skills with MS Office products

• Patient and friendly personality at all times

• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

• Resourceful and willing to patiently work through challenging situations

• Ambition to strive for 100% client satisfaction at all times

• Experience in the home technology business is a plus but not a requirement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
