The Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics (NEXT) is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the Reddy Lab. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Required Education:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
* Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
* Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
* Ensure attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Education:
* Bachelor's degree in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.
Preferred Experience:
* Working experience in a pharmacology or brain research lab
* Knowledge of advanced brain signal software; experimental neural techniques and analysis; behavioral studies and interpretation; brain and histology knowledge
* Preclinical pharmacological studies and data compilation experience in a research lab.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to help senior researchers with brain paradigms and data collection.
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret EEG recording and behavior tests.
* Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments.
* Experience working with microscope, data compilation and analysis.
* Ability to read histology slides and assess damage patterns.
* Ability to help research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.
* Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities
* Assist and conduct brain research with pharmacological methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results in the lab.
* Assists and performs experiments procedures involving brain disease models.
* Assist and perform experiments procedures involving behavior and signal recording.
* Assists with histological analysis studies.
* Assists with performing technical operations relevant to pharmacology and PK studies.
* Prepare database of microscope observations and histology slides.
* Assist and edit for scientific manuscripts.
* Coordinate work progress with campus and external collaborators.
* Coordinate lab compliance and materials for research projects.
* Order and maintain scientific supplies and equipment.
* Prepare and maintain lab records and inventories.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
