Job Purpose:
The Business Development Representative is responsible for developing new business in the builder and trade community by converting or growing loyalty to the Marvin collections. The incumbent will grow sales through the development of strong business relationships and in-depth market intelligence within the builder community.
This position operates within Marvin's team-based environment and will partner with territory managers within the region, as well as sales leadership, sales support, and marketing in order to achieve sales objectives.
Essential Functions:
- In partnership with the regional manager and territory managed, develop an annual Territory Plan that includes market opportunity and a strategy to increase sales and market share.
- Proactively prospect for new builder business, particularly those whose segment focus aligns with the Marvin collections. Create and build these relationships and engage area channel partners to support their successful long-term growth.
- Strategically develop targeted potential customers in the trade community. Collaborate with sales, sales support, and marketing to deliver value to channel and trade partners in support of growth.
- Develop pro trade contractors through various training, which includes market segment training and focus, sales support, technological interface tools, sales training, and product knowledge training
- Demonstrate and utilize Marvin trade tools to build long term competitive barriers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Communicate market conditions, trends, and the competitive environment to sales leadership. Utilize Salesforce to report and assess the results of market activities.
- Provide product and technical solutions on individual project opportunities
- Promote and coordinate factory tours and training held at corporate/flagship location in Warroad, MN.
- Represent Marvin at trade shows and events
- Join and actively participate in appropriate associations, recommended or approved through management.
- Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory, which will require some overnight stays; valid driver's license is required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
- Previous business-to-business selling experience
- Additional consideration given to applicants with building products industry experience
- Valid driver's license with acceptable accident and moving violation motor vehicle record
- Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs
- Fluid and confident verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills with an ability to convey strong, clear, concise messages to target audiences including employees, customers, pro trade personnel, and industry groups; interact with and motivate cross-functional company groups
- High energy, self-directed, professionally confident, and self-motivated
- Self-manage priorities and deadlines. Ability to set and manage own travel and meeting schedule within territory/accounts to achieve territory goals with limited supervision
- Aptitude to work with required technology, software applications, CRM platform (Salesforce.com)
