Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:
The GL Accountant is responsible for the review, development of policies and procedures, and ongoing oversight of the balance sheet. In addition this position will be responsible for leading development, management, and oversight of Operational Accounting controls as well as Assist finance shared services in performing business support and financial analysis as necessary.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct full cycle accounting (including, but not limited to, A/R, Capital, Inventory, month end close and management reporting).
Provide Financial Education and Training to other finance team members.
Perform month end close
Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
Review of Account Reconciliation Tool, including but not limited to:
o Risk rating of balance sheet accounts
o Adequacy of account reconciliations to address inherent risk
o Provide assurance that accounts are reconciled in accordance with established guidelines on a timely basis that follow theEssilorGroup Standards Guide and appropriate internal control policies
Monthly reporting toEssilorInternational, including but not limited to:
o Accurate and timely completion of reporting requirements of Parent, including analysis of balance sheet movements, appendices, and other supporting detail to assist in worldwide consolidated reporting
o Preparation and analysis of working capital variances
o Completion of schedules showing impact of acquisitions on consolidated cash flow
o Reconciliation of internal management to CARS reporting
o Review of CARS reporting packages performed by GL Shared Services team members
o Review of monthly intercompany balancing and escalation of systemic reconciling issues
Perform duties inherent in all professional positions. Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required. This includes but is not limited to the following:
o Coordinate analysis, review and reconciliation of Balance Sheet given understanding of high risk accounts
o Review account reconciliations of finance shared services
o Review journal entries of finance shared services
o Research accounting issues
o Assist with Financialintegrationsof subsidiaries into Oracle
o Documentation of policy and procedures
Assist with coordination of401kand financial statement audit

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS degree in Accounting required
CPA preferred- must have started sitting for exam.
MS in Accounting, MBA or other equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in public accounting, or equivalent. Big 4 experience a plus.
Sound analytical depth and strong technical skills in finance and/or accounting.
Demonstrated experience in managing/interpreting complex data using various databases
Experience in an integrated systems environment desired. Oracle applications experience a plus.
Focus on accuracy and follow through
Ability to work with all levels of management
Ability and desire to work across business units within and outside of Finance
Strong PC skills required, with experience:
Windows
Excel advanced skills including pivot tables,vlookupsandhlookups
PowerPoint
Strong oral and written communications skills.
